Origami bonsai

The origami club we held at work was not that popular, we needed to think of ways to gather more members.

So what was better than an origami bonsai competition, since our interest in Japanese culture also grew due to the club?

We made a print ad, and questions started flowing. The prizes helped as well, I bet.

It seemed impossible at first to make such a beauty from plain paper but with the right tutorials, the results were amazing.

I made this sakura bonsai.

For the trunk I used a papier mâché technique, on a wire frame. The flowers and leaves are origami.

You can find a video tutorial here for the trunk. For the flowers and leaves you can look for the ones you like most.

All the best,

Roxi
